Biography


Matt Rogalsky's work lies in the areas of live electroacoustic music and sound installation, and study and recreations of late-20th century live electronic music pieces. Recent activities include solo electronic music concerts in Canada, Cuba, the USA, Scotland and England and performances with Phill Niblock and Rhys Chatham. He is a member of Composers Inside Electronics (CIE), the group founded by David Tudor, and has presented installation works with CIE in Mexico City and New York. Rogalsky's media/sound art installation work has recently been shown in the USA (Diapason Gallery, New York City) and Canada (Mercer Union, Toronto, 2013).

Rogalsky lives in Kingston Ontario where he teaches at Queen's University in Kingston Ontario, leading courses in electroacoustic and radiophonic composition, 20th century music history, musical acoustics, and interdisciplinary collaboration. He also records, mixes and produces music/sound projects under the name Memory Device and in 2012 began a small label, Otoacoustic, with its first release a special edition vinyl LP by UK percussionist Charles Hayward.
