sky thing is currently john collins mccormick, an improviser and sound artist currently living in garrett, indiana. he studied with sound artist liz phillips at purchase college and the school of the museum of fine art, boston. his environment sensitive performances and installations are based around improvisation utilizing the natural comings and goings of the people and the space as well as transducers and mics. influences – riley, cage, young, oliveros, gamelan, coltrane, beat happening, phillips, beastie boys, circuits, etc.
