lauren redhead is an internationally performed composer and a performer who specialises in experimental music as an organist and a vocalist. in 2014 she toured a programme of specially commissioned works for organ and electronics, ed by sound and music. she is a founder member of the collective ‘automatronic’ who produce a concert series for organ and electronics in london each autumn and who commission and collaborate with composers to create new works for the combination. lauren also regularly performs with the group vocal constructivists who present all-voice performances of graphic notation and with whom she has toured in the us.
as a composer she has collaborated with performers and new music groups including ian pace, rhodri davies, the nieuw ensemble, rarescale, and the london sinfonietta. she has been an artist in residence with octopus collective and with BL!NDMAN ensemble; her work has been featured at huddersfield contemporary music festival, the london ear festival, london contemporary music festival, full of noises festival, fierenze suona contemporanea, gaudeamus muziekweek and the marathon v festival in vienna. her opera, green angel, was premiered in 2011 with the of the arts council of england, and her most recent commission came from the clothworkers consort of leeds to celebrate the anniversary of the discover of x-ray crystallography.
lauren’s compositional work increasingly focuses on graphic, conceptual, and open approaches to music and performance, and collaboration— with other composers and artists — forms an important part of this approach.
lauren is also a lecturer in music at canterbury christ church university.
